Dreaming

I envy people who dream a lot, when they're asleep, that is. I know we all do, whether we remember them or not. So, "people who remember their dreams often" would be a better fitting description. Be that as it may, I don't dream much. At least not presently. Yes, I used to, when I was younger. Unfortunately, I don't recall the things or people I dreamt about anymore. 'Tis a sad thing. I still dream, occasionally, especially when my mind's troubled, I'm given a ticket to the beautiful and fascinating realm of dreams. It's there that one meets himself; one's hopes, fears, past, present and sometimes even future. The person who gave me birth happens to remember her dreams every night, I dare say. She's always eager to share them with me, and usually they're nightmares. There's something disturbing about such dreams. Not only can they scare us or haunt us. They're an inwards trip, a mirror, if you will, in which we see our reflection, which isn't always pleasant. But she's a good person. They can also mirror our fears. That's her case. She dreams - too often, and not for the best reasons - about me. She's afraid her son won't be able to overcome his daily problems on his own. I suppose it's pretty normal for a loving mother.
Well, on the other hand, I dream a lot when awake, I dive into this strange reverie and sometimes it takes many minutes before I can return from this ocean of deep thoughts. I wonder if I can drown there... Sometimes I think I do, even if I feel nothing at all. It's peaceful, actually... I feel warm, perhaps somewhat numb.

Well, who knows what the future has in store for my dreams...
